The main objective of the discussion was to identify the means of work in the New Year on Indian trawling issue and other fisheries issues. Mr. Anthony Jesudasan coordinator of NAFSO, Mrs.Lavina Hasanthi women program coordinator of NAFSO, N.Impam Jaffna coordinator of NAFSO, Mr.S.Thawarathnem, Chairperson of NFA, Mr.S.Suriyakumar, Secretary of NFA and representatives from Sulipuram, Madagal, Kareinagar, Wadamarchchi were participated.
During the discussion Participants pointed out that security
situation in north is very troublesome for the people, even community cannot
gather to talk their common issues freely.
It has increased the invasion of Indian trawlers and also
illegal activities of fishers from south Sri Lanka. Northern fishers. NFA
decided to strengthen the activities to get a solution for these issues and
secure the Northern fishers livelihood.
To conduct the work with legal background, NFA members decided
to accelerate the registration process of the organization.
