Let us Proudly Commemorate International Year of Small Scale Fisheries & Aquiculture - 2022

Civil Activists of North and East area were educated on International Guideline on Tenure and Small Scale Fisheries

Awareness raising campaign  was conducted in Mannar and Baticaloa with the objectives of
Ø  Awareness raising on international instruments in relation to Food Producer groups and food sovereignty
Ø  Education on the ongoing debate of the Seeds bill in the country and the campaign,
Ø  Highlighting of issues and the campaigns related to IDP, WHF, Indian trawling and Security concerns in the northern province
Ø  Awareness raising on the Yes! for Change with Reform campaign in the country
Ø  Establishing possible collaboration of the eastern civil society groups in relation to the change with                  reform campaign.

About 50 participants were participated to the Baticaloa program which was organized by local civil organization and participants from several other organizations from Baticaloa as well as Trincomalee district were also included in the group during the three day program.

Jaffna, Kinochchi, Mulathive, Vawniya and Mannar people joined to the 2 programs conducted in Mannar.
Active participation of the people made the program more understandable for them and we were able to identify ground realities of the areas at present.

Programs were conducted with uncertainty due to government banning all programs conducting by the civil organizations and NGOs in North and East.

As outcome of the program, people decided to build provincial civil society forums for protection of civil and political rights.
