International Fact Finding Mission visits Kalpitiya tourism projects area.

International Fact Finding Mission’s fact finding ended after three days fact finding programme continued from 23 – 27 February in Puttalam district on the bad impact of proposed tourism projects in Kalpitiya.

National Fisheries solidarity Movement (NAFSO) organized this work with the participation of Ms. Swati Seshadri ,Dr. Mrs. Ujjani Halim, Dr. Mrs. Madhabi Roy from India Ms. Ravadee Prasertcharoensuk from Thailand as chief activists of the mission.

Mr. Anura Jayasekara –Assistant Director, Fisheries Department , Mr. Saman Jayasekara- Assistant Director- Ceylon Tourist Board, All Ceylon Fisher Folk Trade Union- Kalpitiya Branch, Anawasala, District Fisheries Solidarity Team- Puttlam, Mr. Riyaldeen -Divisional Secretary-Kalpitiya, Mr. Wanniarachchi- Coastal Conservation Department, Mr. Jude Emmanuel, Former Vice Chair person of Kalpitiya RC and also Parish Priest-Kalpitiya Parish, Traders Association , Muslim Pallivasal Society- [TBC] , Mohothtuwarama community, most vulnerable fisher folk in Uchchimunai and Illuppanthivu islands met for gathering facts regarding this project.

A media briefing was conducted at the end of the fact finding program. The final report of this fact finding mission will be published soon.
