.: Launching of land Grabbing Report of Respected 5 countries

A report Edited and printed by Pesticide Action Network Asia and Pacific (PANAP) with collaborating 5 report from 5 countries including Sri Lanka on land grabbing were launched today (14.10.2013). People from several coastal districts were participated to the event.
Sri Lankan Report based on Kalpitiya Islands land grabbing for tourism sector development were produced by National Fisheries Solidarity together with Prajaabhilaha network, which working on Land rights on the country.
Participants had a discussion on the ground situation of the country after the launch of the report and also discuss on strategies for future work on land rights.

ABOUT NAFSO

NAFSO (National Fisheries Solidarity Movement), organizes fishermen to lobby the government to defend their rights and to bring about good environmental practice in coastal areas. ...NAFSO has helped a fishing community to take legal action against a proposal to build a five-star hotel on a mangrove where fish spawn."We are not against hotels, because they bring tourism and income.
