Follow up the action of UPR process

A regional level meeting was held to get peoples validation on CSOs and UN CESCR recommendations on 30th July 2017 in Vavuniya. 
Participants were also educated on follow up the process of UPR process and facts of UPR report of the government.    
Participants identified 9 important sectors (issues) on the recommendation for fact sheets. Sectors are as below
v Land and Resources destroyed
v Disappeared and Political prisoner's
v Women and Children (Especially women headed house hold)
v Transitional Justice and Accountability
v Rehabilitated LTTE carders
v Health and Education
v Labor’s  rights
v Political rights
v Language barriers

Among many current issues, post war situation in the North and East also subjected to the discussions among participants. they stated that the "Even war is over, lives of the people are same as in the time of war and we can't see any acceptable solution from the present politics". 


Participants conducted group discussion and recommendation resulted from discussions were present to the audience.  Mr Anthony Jesudasan, Sampath (Att.Law).  Mr Herman Kumara, Pushapakumara, Mr Chinthaka Rajapaksha, Mr Franzis Rajan, Mr Nuwan Pradeep and Rev. Sr.Nichola has facilitated the program. 

Civil society leaders, Human rights activists, representatives of youth groups and Women groups from Mannar, Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Trincomalee, Ampara and Batticaloa districts participated very actively.
