Let us Proudly Commemorate International Year of Small Scale Fisheries & Aquiculture - 2022

People encouragement on pandemic situation:

Usual life of the people has been dropped due to spreading the corona virus among the public.  People are struggling to survive because of not having income ways.  Every economic activity has been stopped with the decision of government to enact the curfew in the island wide. Although the curfew removes time to time, the daily wagers are facing difficulties to find any labor work in the area.  District partners organizations of National Fisheries Solidarity Movement works with the vulnerable people in order to use this space to develop the home garden of the people. Food sovereignty   is one of the main principles of the National Fisheries Solidarity Movement and there have been a conversation and intervention to create self-sufficient society for more than 20 years.  Encourage the people to build their home garden is one of the main strategies that the organization has used toward the target. This strategy is practically implemented by the partner organizations in the field. Jaffna Fisheries Solidarity Movement visited the people in Vallipuram in order to observe the existing situation as well as see the possibilities to use this space to develop the organic home gardens. Mr.N. Imbanayagam, district coordinator of Jaffna District Fisheries Solidarity and Mrs.  Thadjani, animator of the organization participated in the visit. This meeting was held in Vallipuram village on 5 of May, 2020.
